Roop, Ophelia Bugg

Ophelia Bugg Roop, 91, of Waynesboro, peacefully passed away Feb. 8, 2026 and is now with her Heavenly Father.
Born July 26,1934 in Radford, she was the daughter of the late John W. Bugg and Laura R. Bugg.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie D. Roop, Sr.; her son Charlie D Roop, Jr.; her brothers, Robert and Eugene Bugg; and her sisters, Ruth DeHart, Frances Wright and Lillian Thomas.
She loved the Lord and during her lifetime was a member of various Baptist Churches in Radford and Waynesboro. At the time of her passing, she was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Waynesboro with Pastor Mark Finch.
She was a great cook and enjoyed gardening and sewing and quilting. She spent most of her working years in secretarial and office manager positions. She also loved her feline friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Cathy R. Higgins (husband David) of Stevensville Md.; her son Kendall W. Roop (wife Tracy) of Waynesboro; her grandson, David M. Higgins (wife Rebecca) and their two children Addison C. Higgins and Jackson D. Higgins of Grasonville Md.; her granddaughter Chessie R. Lyle (husband Nick) and their daughter Pheonix C. Lyle; her brother William Bugg of Dublin; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Mar. 14 at 2 p.m. at Eastern Shore Baptist Church, 119 Station Lane Grasonville, MD 21638 by Pastor Tim Curtis.
A graveside service will be held Mar. 30 at 11 a.m. at Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro Va. by Pastor Mark Finch from Lighthouse Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Compass Regional Hospice in Centreville Md. or any animal rescue of your choice.
