First Baptist Church on the Rock celebrates Women’s Weekend
The women of First Baptist Church, 555 West Rock Rd., Radford celebrate “Bloom Where You Are Planted.” The weekend event begins Saturday, Mar. 7, 9 a.m.- 1 p.m. with a workshop with speakers, Kim Gittings and Minister Tanisha Johnson. Breakfast and lunch will be served. Join us for games, group sessions, and lots of fellowship. On Sunday, Mar. 8, the Women’s Choir will be singing and the guest speaker will be Denise Dowell from Shiloh Baptist Church, Salem. On Monday, Mar. 9, join us for a movie, “The Greatest Inheritance.” Bring your favorite brown bag dinner. The dinner is open to not only women but anyone who would like to enjoy the evening at the movie. First Baptist Church is under the leadership of David Gittings Jr., Pastor.

Montgomery County Board of Supervisors meeting
Public meetings are normally held the second and fourth Monday of each month at the Montgomery County Government Center, 755 Roanoke St. in Christiansburg. Closed sessions begin at 6 p.m. if needed. Open sessions begin at 7:15 p.m. Citizens are invited to attend and allowed to speak at each meeting. All regular meetings of the Board of Supervisors are rebroadcast on Montgomery County Comcast and Shentel Channels 190 daily.
Radford City Council meeting
The Radford City Council will hold its regularly scheduled meeting at 7 p.m. in council chambers at the Radford Municipal Building, 10 Robertson St., Radford. Citizens are invited to attend and allowed to speak at each meeting. See the agenda at www.radfordva.gov.

Blacksburg Town Council meeting
The council meets in regular session the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Roger E. Hedgepeth Chambers of the Blacksburg Municipal Building, 300 S. Main St. These meetings are open to the public and televised live on WTOB Channel 2.
Christiansburg Town Council meeting
At 7 p.m. at Town Hall,100 E. Main St., Christiansburg. This is a regular meeting of town council. The meeting will be live streamed to the Town’s YouTube page at www.christiansburg.org/YouTube. Sons of Confederate Veterans meeting
The Sons of Confederate Veterans, Stuart Horse Artillery Camp 1784 will meet at 7 p.m. at the NRV Super Bowl, 375 Arbor Drive NE, Christiansburg. Members of the United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC) are also invited to attend. The guest speaker will be Mr. Ted Farmer, Associate Professor of History and Political Science at New River Community College. His topic will be “Nathan Bedford Forrest: The Man.” If Montgomery or Floyd County Public Schools are closed on Thursday or Friday of this week due to weather, the meeting will be cancelled. Blacksburg Police Citizens Academy
Join the Blacksburg Police Department for a Citizens Academy. The 2026 program dates are: Tuesday evenings, Mar. 31 – May 5, 6 – 7:30 p.m. Participants will learn about patrol techniques, criminal investigations, SWAT operations, and various other operations important to police work in town.
