Pastor Monroe Allen Hedrick, 84, of Christiansburg, passed away peacefully Nov. 10, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Born Feb. 19, 1941, he was the son of the late Chester and Cleo Graham Hedrick. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Hedrick, and sister, Roberta Jean Hedrick Jacob.
Monroe is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Lois Hines Hedrick; son, Gregory Allen Hedrick (Kimberly), of Christiansburg; his daughter, Suzanne Marie Hedrick of Roswell, Ga.; his siblings, Guy Hedrick of Saline, Mich., and Mary Ruth Worley, of Cincinnati, Ohio; his grandchildren, Lindsay Burch (Cole), Jonathan Hedrick (Victoria), Joshua Hedrick (Effie), LilyJun Hedrick and Jadon Hedrick; his great-grandchildren, Eliyanah Hedrick, Josie Hedrick, Patrick Burch and Briella Hedrick; as well as many beloved extended family members.
Monroe was born in Jonesville, Va., where he met and married the love of his life, Lois, to whom he was married for 64 years. He graduated from Flatwoods High School in Lee County, Va., completed a Bachelor of Science at Union College in Barbourville, Ky., and a Master of Divinity at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va.
Monroe was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was the founding pastor of Trinity Community Church (Trinity Baptist), where he faithfully served for 42 years before retiring in 2011. Following his retirement, he remained actively involved as pastor Emeritus for as long as he was able.
Monroe, raised on a farm, was a skilled outdoorsman and athlete with a passion for various sports, including hunting, fishing, baseball, basketball, golf and tennis. Most notably, Monroe was deeply devoted to his faith in Jesus Christ and spreading the Word of God around the world.
Visitation was Sunday, Nov. 16, 2025 at Trinity Community Church. Funeral services followed with Pastor John Altizer, Ph.D., and Joshua Hedrick, M.Div. Graveside services were held Monday, Nov. 17, 2025 in Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg.
