Red Phillips happily waves after voting in the state primaries at the polling-station on South Franklin street in Christiansburg. The 94-year-old said, “I’ve voted since coming from the US Marines, in 1946. I guess this makes a 71-year span of voting. I enjoy voting; it’s my civic duty. I don’t think I’ve missed any elections.” Mr. Phillips is a well-known sports-fan, Kiwannis Club activist, entrepreneur, and humanitarian.
