An event commemorating and reflecting on the 32 lives lost at Virginia Tech on April 16, 2007, will feature performances by Virginia Tech student music and dance ensembles, along with special guests, on April 14 at 7 p.m.

Presented by the Moss Arts Center, “Performance in Remembrance” will be held in the Anne and Ellen Fife Theatre, located within the Moss Arts Center’s Street and Davis Performance Hall at 190 Alumni Mall. The event is free and open to the public. No tickets are required.

The performance is part of a series of events and tributes that will mark the university’s observance of the Day of Remembrance that honors the lives of the students and faculty taken from their families, friends, and the Virginia Tech community on April 16, 2007.

This year’s observance will span three days and will include events in Blacksburg and communities across the nation hosted by Virginia Tech Alumni Association chapters. Find a complete list of events on the 2017 Day of Remembrance website.

“Performance in Remembrance” features performances by the Virginia Tech Wind Ensemble, Virginia Tech Choirs, and the student-led Contemporary Dance Ensemble.

The dance, music, and spoken word program includes performances by special guests, including soprano Ariana Wyatt, assistant professor of voice, School of Performing Arts; choreographer and soloist Pedro Szalay, artistic director, Southwest Virginia Ballet; composer and pianist Dwight Bigler, director of choral activities and an associate professor, School of Performing Arts; author Ed Falco, professor, Department of English; author Matthew Vollmer, associate professor, Department of English; and members of the Blacksburg Master Chorale.

The Moss Arts Center will also host “Passages,” a related exhibition for reflection and remembrance in the Miles C. Horton Jr. and Sherwood Payne Quillen ‘71 reception galleries April 12 through 16.
Parking is available in the North End Parking Garage on Turner Street. Virginia Tech faculty and staff possessing a valid Virginia Tech parking permit can enter and exit the garage free of charge. Limited street parking is also available. Parking on Alumni Mall is free on weekdays after 5 p.m. and on weekends.
