MONTGOMERY COUNTY- Local organization 100+ Women who Care donated $11,100 this weekend to NRV CARES, a non-profit organization who centers on protecting children and caring for families.
Every quarter, 100+ Women Who Care donates to an organization of their choice. The organization can use it for whatever they need to continue to thrive and support their community. 100+ Women Who Care NRV is located out of Blacksburg and is an organization of women in the community who care a great deal about supporting and uplifting their community. These women strive to have an impact on the good and the care they see in their community. They chose NRV CARES this quarter. NRV CARES stands for New River Valley Child Advocacy, Resources, Education, and Services. NRV CARES is based in Christiansburg and is a private non-profit who supports families by providing education, support and parenting classes. NRV CARES also is dedicated to protecting children as they are an affiliate of Prevent Child Abuse Virginia and the National CASA Association. They also provide education for the community on the existence of child abuse, the effects of trauma and how to help support families and children in need through difficult times as a community. They do this in multiple ways like offering Stewards of Children Training, which is a workshop on child sexual abuse, and by working with other community organizations like Christiansburg fire Department on Pinwheels for Prevention which residents can see blue pinwheels all around town during the month of April to bring awareness toward child abuse.
NRV CARES supports all of Montgomery County by providing these resources as well as workshops for families and children. For NRV CARES, this donation means a great deal to them as it helps ensure they can continue to provide education and support for their community.
