Concord games on TV

The Concord University football team and WVVA-TV out of Bluefield, West Virginia will once again broadcast three games during the 2017 season.
The three televised games will be October 14 when Concord welcomes in West Virginia State for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff on Homecoming. WVVA will also televise the October 21 game against non-conference foe UNC-Pembroke, and the November 4contest versus Fairmont State which will be Senior Day.
Both games against UNCP and FSU will start at 12:00 p.m.
“Not all of our students’ families can see the games and many come from other places,” Concord University President Kendra Boggess said in the WVVA press release. “So they can tune in and it’s a wonderful opportunity for them to see their young men play. It’s terrific.”
Each of the last two seasons, WVVA-TV and Concord has teamed to broadcast three games.
In addition each of the three contests during the 2017 season will also be streamed live on wvva.com/live.

Morrow Big South pitcher of week

Following a sensational week of performances in the circle, Abby Morrow was named the Big South Co-Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.

Morrow helped Radford win five out of six games, going a perfect 4-0 in her four starts with a 0.26 ERA and three shutouts. She allowed just a single run and no extra-base hits over 26.2 innings while recording 15 strikeouts and just three walks.

The weekly honor was Morrow’s third of the season and fifth of her career. She improved to 18-10 on the season, while lowering her ERA to 3.07 and upping her shutout total to five. The Ruther Glen native now ranks fourth in program history with 49 career wins and tied for third in shutouts (11). She is also six strikeouts away from tying for third on that list.

Morrow shared the honor with Liberty’s Julia DiMartino, who was 3-2 with 1.02 ERA and two shutouts in five appearances on the week.
