Radford University’s College of Education and Human Development is hosting its second annual Global Education Conference.

The one-day event is scheduled for Aug. 19 at the university’s Kyle Hall.

“The conference serves the needs of pre-service and practicing educators striving to develop global competencies for themselves as well as their students who will enter a rapidly changing and ever more interconnected world,” said Radford University Assistant Professor Terry Smith, who is conference co-chair along with Radford faculty members Patti Talbot and Glenna Gustafson.

The conference will feature experienced global educators from around the United States, as well as organizations such as National Geographic, Virginia Geographic Alliance, Population Education and UNC WorldView.

Conference attendees are invited to give presentations.

“We welcome presentation proposals focused on preparing pre-service and in-service global educators to foster global competency skills in their pre-K-12 classrooms,” Smith said.

Presentations should be practical in nature and offer specific strategies and resources in an engaging manner that models the teaching practices promoted in the presentation.

To register for the conference and submit presentation proposals, visit https://ru-world-ready.wikispaces.com/. Proposals are being accepted through June 1.

Conference fees are $45 per attendee, and $25 for students with a Radford University ID.
