Teen survives jump off Memorial Bridge


RADFORD – A local teenager is recovering in the hospital after living through a suicide attempt by jumping off of Memorial Bridge.

On Sunday, Sept. 29, at approximately 10:15 p.m., “the Radford City Police Department received a phone call from the subject who had jumped off Memorial Bridge,”according to Radford Public Information Coordinator Jenni Wilder. “The subject was located laying on the ground near the tennis courts in Bisset Park and was conscious and alert. The individual was transported to New River Valley Medical Center where treatment was received before being transported to Roanoke Memorial Hospital for further treatment. This is an ongoing investigation and no further information will be released at this time.”
