2025 Summer Arts Festival Begins May 23

Corey Harris is a guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, and band leader who has carved out his own niche in blues. A powerful singer and accomplished guitarist, he has appeared at venues throughout North America, Europe, Brazil, the Caribbean, West Africa, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. He will perform at this season’s first Henderson Lawn Concert Friday, May 23, 6-7:30 p.m.

BLACKSBURG – Sponsored by the Town of Blacksburg and Virginia Tech, the Summer Arts Festival includes a great variety of free, family-friendly entertainment for all ages through the summer months.

Events include:

Theatre Fuddy Meers: A play by David Lindsay-Abaire- July 17, 19 and 20 at 7 p.m. in Theatre 101. Kid’s Shakespeare Workshop: June 26 at 3 p.m. at the Lyric Theatre.

Art Exhibits 2025 New River Art Juried Biennial: Presented by the Blacksburg Regional Art Association, June 5 – Aug. 23. Opening reception with Juror Michael Rooks: Thursday June 5, 5-7 p.m., Moss Arts Center; all galleries.

Cinema Movies at the Lyric: June 14 – Sunset Boulevard (1950), June 28 – The Goonies (1985) and July 19 – Guys and Dolls (1955).

Music Henderson Lawn Concerts – Fridays, 6-7:30 p.m. May 23: Corey Harris, May 30: Blacksburg Community Band, June 6: Solacoustix June 13: Redd Volkaert Band, June 20: Root Down, June 27: Cinematheque, July 11: Music Road Co, July 18: Paul McDonald & the Mourning Doves, July 25: Jstop Latin Soul.

Classical Concerts – Thursdays, 7-8 p.m. June 19: The Art of the Spiritual at the Blacksburg Presbyterian Church, 701 Church St. SE, Blacksburg Jordan Harmon, mezzo soprano. July 10: Melody Unending: The Music of Mozart and Poulenc at CID LLC, 185 Kent Street. July 31: Masses by Mozart and Schubert, Blacksburg Presbyterian Church, 701 Church St. SE, Blacksburg.
